AREAL | space for choreographic development is a collective initiative launched in early 2020 by Gabriela Tudor Foundation, the Association for Theatre and Books – PETEC, Delazero Association, Indie Box and choregrapher Andreea Belu in the frame of „4 Bodies | Colective for Dance (2020-2021)”, cultural programme co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. Starting with 2021, PETEC has withdrew from the „4 Bodies” programme, which is now continued by the other founders, while the artistic coordination of the AREAL studio is undertaken by an artistic board composed of choreographers Alexandra Bălășoiu, Cristina Lilienfeld, Cosmin Manolescu and Valentina De Piante.
The AREAL space opened in March 2021 in Bucharest, on 2 Anastasie Simu St.
The space offers direct support to projects initiated by its founders and aims at increasing the cohesion withing the choreographic field, to develop and attract new audience categories to contemporary dance.
MISSION
AREAL | space for choreographic development is a studio open to research and collaboration, which supports artistic creation, professional development and the dialogue between artists, public and the contemporary dance scene. The space creates contexts, provides resources and supports the mobility of professional dance makers with a view to the development of the contemporary dance sector in Bucharest.
VISION
We believe that the artists and the art of dance have the capacity to trigger new cognitive, emotional and movement-based processes, with an important role in transforming people and societies.

Research, creative processes in studio, mobility, interdisciplinarity, introspection, alternative education, awareness, well-being, time for reflection, meeting and dialogue space between, choreographers, teachers and the public.
