⤷ “Home Inside the Body” reaches its first public presentation. The event will begin with a short excerpt from the performance “At Ease Among Nerve Endings”, followed by a discussion with artists Cristina Lilienfeld, Wura Moraes, Dorota Michalak, Maëlle Laurent, and Alina Ușurelu. The artistic team will discuss the creative process and the core questions behind their research, opening a conversation about the body, territory, the other, and what it truly means to feel at home in one’s own body.
“At Ease Among Nerve Endings” is a contemporary dance performance exploring displacement, belonging, and the search for home through the relationship between body, territory, and memory.
Four performers use movement, voice, and imagery to examine how experiences of estrangement are inscribed in the body and its relationship to space: through tensions, breath, and internal rhythms. The performance investigates the politics of belonging and why certain bodies feel at home while others are perceived or treated as foreign.
The piece developed out of choreographic research conducted across two residencies: at the Plantamor self-sustaining community in Tenerife, Spain, and during the “Improvise and Organise” residency in Alta Vila Park, Águeda, Portugal. The process is further informed by somatic work sessions in social care centers, where the choreographer worked alongside a psychotherapist with individuals experiencing homelessness.
